Banquet, after a long time.

Had my long awaited off day after working for 9 days and I went to Gurney Plaza for a movie marathon on Friday. :)

Kung Fu Panda 2 and Insidious. Two very different but equally interesting movies!

Then, got a call on the same day to help out in banquet the following day.

It's a Chinese wedding.

The 3-tier wedding cake not for eating.

The number of tables for the night: 29 tables.

Today, I learnt more about the GC members point collection. Thank you Asami for teaching me!

8-4pm shift tomorrow. I love my shifts at Front Office!

It's Inventory Count Day!

Today was inventory count day so it was quite busy at the gift shop and there was a group checking out so it was busy at the reception too.

I have filled up the job application form and now all I need to do is to leave everything in God's hands. I pray I do get the job! :)

Had my meals at the hotel so I spent RM0 today. Got to know some new trainee friends such as Shirlyn, Elaine and Chie Fei, working in HR, Finance and Purchasing departments respectively. They came from all various states - Shirlyn is from Malacca, Elaine from Alor Setar and Chie Fei is from Sabah. It's wonderful to meet people from so far away.

I had a walk at the garden today and got to learn more about two guests who shared with me their experience in the hotel and how appreciated they felt being remembered. According to them, the staffs at the resort always make them feel special by preparing 'Welcome Back' and 'Bon Voyage' cakes each time they visit.

"They have good memories! They remember us!" they said.

I sat there listening to them and I just wished I could sit there all day with them. Miss Angela and Miss Pamela, it's really nice talking to you. You don't have the vibes that strangers will emit when you are talking to them. You both are so friendly and it felt like I have known you for years.

Managed to get 5 courtesy logs today and I believe it's the most I got today. Hopefully tomorrow I will be able to get as many though I doubt it.

For those of you who do not know, courtesy logs are records of opinions of guests about their staying experience in the resort whether good or bad. :)

Dog nursing ligers

Have you seen a dog feeding liger (a crossbreed between a lion and a tiger) cubs?

The wild being nurtured domestically.

Here's the full story.

Happy 19th Birthday, Deric!

Before the clock strikes 12, I just want to wish Deric a very happy 19th birthday! It's hard to believe you are already 19. It felt just like yesterday the moment I turned 19. Now it's your turn. :)

I guessed you had fun and I'll see you next month. Can't believe time flies. It's almost halfway through year 2011. And my training ends on the last day of June, approximately a month and ten days to go.

I had a fruitful day today as I learned more about the reception. I want to learn more about the system now. Step by step, I shall be patient. :)

Feeling sleepy right now. These days I tend to feel sleepy really soon.

My day started off with Chocolates! What about yours?

Got a surprise from Siew Choo today. She is so sweet. Feel like hugging her a thousand times over.

Okay, that is a bit too much. Hehehe...

Only thoughtful friends will remember you on their trips (I know I am terrible because every time I go for holiday, I forget my friends at times.)

I must be prepared for ants to come to my room soon.

A tube of While Toblerone chocolate and a mysterious brown package.

Look! My name is on it! With a smiley pill as deco. Cute!

Tadaa! So many kisses flying out from the brown paper bag. Can you just feel the love??

I will eat one a day (if I could resist).

Thanks so much again for remembering me during your trip to Langkawi, Siew Choo!! :)

Haul on Wesak Day!

I had a terrific day with Kah Men today! And I spent the highest amount of money in a day in my history of shopping. It's a total of RM93 all in cash!

The day had been gloomy all day (threatened to rain, quoted from Veronica :D) but we managed to get to Gurney Plaza smoothly. Surprisingly, the traffic was not that bad. As soon as we reached there at around 1.40pm, the first thing we did was to look for food! Soothing our stomachs was of utmost importance.

Every shop was so full of people. Especially the food court. All the tables were TAKEN! We finally settled for Bar.B.Q. Plaza since there was a vacant table for us.

Pork and bacons! It's been a while since I have consumed anything from the piggie family.

Fried rice with bacon rolls. The rolls were very delicious. I think I can eat them all if it was a dish by itself.

I am currently running low on supplies of Evening Primrose Oil (EPO) so I went to Watsons and got ripped off willingly. I had no choice but to buy the twin pack at the price of RM128.80. Before this, they had an offer at RM92++ with two huge bottles plus a small bottle of EPO.

The twin pack that I bought. Just compare it with the current one that I am consuming. I guess Blackmores EPO is more expensive. :)

By the way, I paid for this using debit card so it doesn't count in my spendings in CASH!

Kah Men was shoe-hunting and she found none at Gurney. So we headed off to Prangin Mall since it is the haven for great variety of shoes and clothes and other things! Great place to shop, really.

The proof? A person who always window-shops like me succumbed to purchasing something that I never thought of buying at all at the start of the day . I thought I don't need it but I guess I do now.

(Oh, that's what every shopper says when they purchase. I NEED IT, NOT I WANT IT!! :P )

It's too cute to resist! RM25 for a 20-inch x 13-inch luggage bag.

Thank you mommy dearie for buying this for me! :) I can stare at the bag whole day and not use it. So cute!!!

Working from 12-8pm tomorrow. Should I go to Pinang Emas tomorrow for a cuppa? Hmm, I really don't know.

Sheep gave birth to dog!

It's a weird occurrence but the puppy and the sheep mama is so cute together! The world is definitely turning upside down.

The puppy (also known as a sheep dog) that has a sheep for a mother.

The following is extracted in its entirety from here.

IT would - if true - give a whole new meaning to being a sheep dog.

Scientists say it's impossible, but Chinese farmer Liu Naiying believes he is the proud owner of a miracle - a sheep that has given birth to a dog.

The "puppy" has wool like a lamb but its mouth, nose, eyes, paws and tail look more like those of a dog. Thousands of people have visited Mr Liu's Shaanxi province farm to see for themselves.

"I was herding the sheep, and saw a sheep licking her newborn lamb on the grassland," Mr Liu said.

"When I went up to check I was shocked because it looked so weird, like a cross between a sheep and a dog.

"I was a bit frightened, as I've been raising sheep for 20 year
s and had never seen such a creature."

Researcher Yue Guozhang said "it's likely that this is just an abnormal lamb".

A couple of pictures from the south and a video that brings back memories

I am learning more things each day in Front Office as I observe and being asked questions. :)

Just a couple of pictures snapped in Ipoh!

A picture with the Elles. Elsa is so cute standing on my legs.

Eunice and me at Brownies for ice-cream and of course, brownies!

Another day of morning shift before my off day! So good to have an off day on a public holiday. :)

Here's a video that you will like if you have watched Green Green Grass by the River, a Taiwanese drama in 1992. Meet the casts after 16 years!

Third day at Front Office

Today is my third day at Front Office department. For the time being, my main duty lies at the gift shop but I will go out to the reception at any opportunity I get to see what I can learn. I don't know why but this is the department that lures me to be more curious than ever.

I have seen the manager about my wish to continue working in Front Office after training and I think all would be good. Now, I just need to learn the nature of the job and bear with the consequences that come with it. As he said, it is a 'hot' place. I think I can handle the 'heat'. I shall not worry and leave the burden to God. :)

I officially learned about the checklist for the safety box today and also escorted three guests today! (Although one of them just wanted to see the room as it was raining so heavily that he had got nowhere else to go. Poor thing!) I really thank the staffs there for teaching me and luckily they did not scold me when I forget things at times.

I am glad that I am put in the gift shop as I get to learn more. Looking forward to work tomorrow.

An embarrassing act of the day. I signed on the wrong side of the logbook while collecting the key for the gift shop this morning. Oops! Will definitely consult the security lady before signing tomorrow. :P

A new environment

Today was my second day at Front Office. There has been a change of shift and now I don't have to go to work from 12-8pm but from 8-4pm instead. I am happy as I get to learn about the gift shop as well as the reception work. The staffs there are friendly and willing to teach me when I asked. They joked around so much!!

Snapped on the first day.

Snapped today.

Last day in Ipoh

Some pictures from Ipoh. Chee Foo took us to a new Japanese place called Mokuren after church service on Sunday.

Later, I treat my sis at Brownies for Haagan Daaz ice-creams and brownies! Thank you Foo Suk for recommending this place. :)

The menu. ♥ the bear!!

Rum rainsin and Belgian chocolate flavoured ice-cream with brownies at the bottom. Super delicious!

Some pictures of the Elles! I can't wait to come back next month to meet with you two again!

Elly feeling drowsy

Elsa with her perks

This is so adorable!

Her growing teeth.

First day in front office was really relaxing. What a contrast from the hustle-bustle in SMC. :)

The Elles grown up (by a bit)!!

Home sweet home once again! I enjoy coming back from Penang. It's a joy to be back!

Some eye candies for you. The Elles are bigger now!

On the way to the vet for their final heartworm vaccination.

Looks like pig.

Lazing around in the afternoon.

Can you try guessing which Elle this is?

The weather in Ipoh is killing me. Oh, and Happy Mothers' Day to all!!! :) :) :)

Diabetic-induced

I am too lazy so just crapped out a post to entertain myself and my silent readers.

Just enjoy it.

The day before yesterday, I went to Pinang Emas again for dinner and we had jolly great fun. Just a simple meal can make me so happy.

See, Cecilia is two-faced! Literally. Panoramic shot failed!

Notice how Alfred had a sun-like glow above his head like some angel.

Friends, they are your gem when you have no money to buy from Tiffany's. :) They are priceless.

Yesterday, I saw many kitties at SMC and they were all very complacently sleeping on the chairs. Here's one being very shameless and too lazy to move that I managed to snap its picture.

It was a lazy afternoon for Kitty. Still, it distanced itself away from me whenever I tried to touch it.

It's a pity my hand was a little shaky while taking this picture. Couldn't snap another one as Kitty ran away.

Shortly after that, some Japanese tourists saw the cats and started snapping away like they were exhibits in the zoo. And I felt like a zookeeper.

This rainforest tree is said to be 100 over years old. Since I will be leaving SMC soon, I reckon it's right for me to snap some pictures as mementos.

The outdoor section of Spice Market Cafe. I hate working here because I sweat while working. Super uncomfortable. But I enjoy the experience. :) So ironic, huh?

The following section consists of food. Make sure your bellies are filled before consuming the photos with your eyes.

Chocolate fondue! Been dying to try this for ages but yet to have the chance. Soon, one day, I will try!

An assortment of dessert for the International Buffet night. Sugar overdose! I feel diabetic looking at the pictures.

Ingredients for ice kacang. The Malaysians' favourite during hot weather.

Been tortured in SMC looking at the food every day but not getting to taste them so I am taking revenge by posting about the pictures so you get tortured too! Forgive me for being EVIL!! Hahahaha!!!

I had a simple lunch for today.

A bowl of Cintan Noodles Laksa Flavoured with An Egg.

Then I got tempted by the food from the International Buffet again but I got rewarded.

A sinful cake for me to enjoy. On top of that, I had coffee creme brulee too. I need more insulin looking at the picture now.

I ate the whole thing by myself. Good thing there is no weighing machine here or I will be worried sick having to think of ways to lose weight. What I don't know won't hurt me (I think).

Too much of sweets can be harmful. I better drink more water to dilute the sugar level in my body. Does water help? Hope it does. :P
