Damai Laut

The trip to Damai Laut from the 17-18 November was simply fabulous. We got to tour the hotel and the surrounding areas and we had loads of fun taking in the fantastic view of the sea (even the flies didn't pose much of a problem since the marvelous stay compensated for it). Even the seminar was great. I was kind of expecting the regular boring talk but it turned out surprisingly interesting with ice breakers in between the talk.

The pictures were not arranged chronogically, but do enjoy them anyway! I only some of the pictures from the trip. The rest of the pictures can be found all over facebook. =)

The best picture of the entire trip. Can you just feel the strong bond of friendship?

Snapped on the second day after the seminar is over.

The evening of the first day. High tide!

Touring around the resort in the buggy.

I love the waterfall. I always thought that this picture was drawn out of some artist's imagination.

Me at the entrance of Samsara Spa

The last day. While waiting for our transport to come.

Rewind back to the evening before.

This was the first time I went to the beach when the tide was getting higher. I dare say it was pretty scary to see the bold waves slapping further in onto the beach.

Kailash looked so blur. Have you eaten kailan today?

During lunch break.

During the two days, our meals were provided yet I couldn't eat much. And yet I could gain 2 kg after the trip. It's just so weird.

I loved the trip and can't wait for another one in the near future. =D

An eye-opening experience

I've had a great weekend at Istana Hotel. I tend to get lazy to put captions below the pictures when there are too many of them so I'll just let them represent the thousands of words that they should.

Such a huge chandelier. Beautiful.

The corridor

Our room.

Nice number.

The bed quality was as good as Boulevard's.

Oh, should have taken the long-lasting orchid back home.

The drinks in the minibar.

Bottled drinks

Here are a few pictures of the bathroom. It seemed to be the main attraction of the room. The tiles were freezing cold all the time and I wondered why.

The shower room.

The bathtub which I never used.

Another separate section for the toilet bowl.

Hair dryer. Didn't use this either.

Me standing at the doorway of the toilet bowl section.

At night, we walked to Jalan Alor for dinner. There were so much choice of food that we did not know what to eat.

After dinner, I snapped some pictures of the tip of the KL Tower and also the Twin Towers.

These trees decorated with lights are ready for Christmas!

The pond at the far end of the front of the hotel.

From Room 1616, this was the view that we got.

A pool view.

Being a first timer staying at Bukit Bintang area, especially on weekends, there were a lot of things to see. Like in Lot 10, I witnessed a fight at the food court area and then there were the shufflers on the streets when I was in the monorail. The city came alive at night. I saw two monkeys led by a man (ready to do some monkey-business performances, I think) as well as a few girls/half-girls a.k.a. 'aquas' (can't tell them apart though) dressed skimpily promoting massage at the sidewalk. I was whispering to my mom that they might be promoting other extra services too after the massage. She nodded and smiled.

Being back feels good. I love the feeling of being back home after a trip. =)

Self-written lyric of Sitti Nurbaya sountrack based on what my ears tell me

I guess I have nothing better to write about. Maybe I do, but I just don't feel like writing any issues out.

Here's the soundtrack of the drama I'm currently watching. A word of caution though. The lyrics is not 100% accurate because I typed out whatever I thought I heard.

The lyrics of Sitti Nurbaya

Buka mata, buka hati
Dan engkau akan mengerti
Kisah ini
Tidak lagi ada ragu
Cintaku hanya untuknya
Selamanya
Ijinkanlah
Aku bersamanya
Oh dunia
Takkan perduli

Mesti ragah diam tanpa daya
Jangan paksa hati
Untuk bersandiwara
Meskipun nanti
Aku tak bersamanya
Tapi kisahku
Kan abadi
Tapi kisahku
Kan abadi

The whole picture

After painstakingly taking hours and hours of time, one stitch after another, I finally had finished the whole picture.

The following are the pictures snapped at random times of the day and at random stages. I didn't think about snapping pictures about it at first so that is why there is no picture of the empty Aida cloth.

You cannot even guess what the picture is about.

What do you think this is? Try to make a guess.

Give up???

Okay la. You can see the picture below.

For those of you who guessed hair, congratulations! You have won yourself a pat on your back. No real prizes are to be given here as I am just a poor mouse. Hehe...

The features materialized further. I loved Kate Winslet's eye!! Gorgeous!!

Time to stitch the jewels on her hair.

Now what is the name of the ship again? About to be stitched!

We can play a game of Hangman here. It's called the TIT_NI_.

The completed picture waiting to be framed.

I am about to start another project soon and I wonder what picture would it be this time.

P/S: I thank the Lord for granting me such benevolent friends who are willing to spare some space for me at their homes on the 16th November. =) =) =)

I will be temporarily 'homeless' and 'carless' (not careless, okay?) on that day/night.

Thanks, my friends. You know who you are. I am still contemplating which house to go to. What a blessing!

Everything Thai for today. =)

Today was an interesting day because I get to watch a horror movie. I don't know why, but I just love movies from this genre. The Coffin was surprisingly not disappointing but it was actually quite an impressive horror flick after The Shutter. Why did I say this? Most of the horror movies made in Thailand that I've watched so far were not up to my standard (or you can say not up to the expectation of viewers who love Japanese and Korean types of horror movies) so I wasn't expecting much from this movie either. The quality in terms of the sound and storyline for other Thai horror movies was horrendous. Take The Dorm as example. I got bored watching that show.

During the movie, Ju Dee was clutching onto my arms so tightly that I thought some blood capillaries of mine burst. I broke the record for being the first person ever getting out of the cinema bruised all over.

Okay, that was obviously a joke.

There were some funny moments in the cinema. Chee Leong, who wasn't an avid fan of horror flicks got the most challenging experience. The movie was said to pose an even a greater challenge than the rides in Genting (a confession he made during lunch). Imagine, paying a meager RM6 just to get the same exhilarating feeling (maybe even more). See how much you have already saved up if you were to spend it on the rides in Genting?

Back to the story. I could not remember what or when, but The-One-Who-Hates-Horror-Movies suddenly decided to drink his water and spurted some water (he claimed that it was a suppressed form and I wonder if it wasn't suppressed, I would have been drenched. LOL). It was seriously funny for everyone who heard about it later. So it became the joke of the day.

(Chee Leong, forgive me if your mishap became the joke of the day. It had already been popularised in Patricia's blog. So this is just a recap. =P)

After the movie, we set foot to Johnny's as planned days and days ago for our tomyam steamboat. Something Thai again. This was pure coincidence. It didn't cross our minds at all that we would be watching and eating something Thai for the day. The food was fabulous and I ate a tad more than I should.

I am now in the process of getting my cross-stitch project done. It's almost a year now. Will be posting up the pictures of the process once I am done. Then I will get it framed in my room. My first ever finished 32,000 squares of crosses.

Arthur Foo is an awesome writer. I love his wits and humour in his novel. Brown Sugar is truly one of its kind.

Currently my favourite song: God Of My Forever

The Chinese version with chords: 我永遠的救主

The lyrics are so beautiful.

Second and final event for me at Syuen

The continuation of my experience working at Syuen Hotel. This time it's a Chinese wedding function which meant more fussy guest.

While waiting for the briefing to start, I snapped a few pictures of the ballroom. The lights were off then so the picture quality was not as good.

At first I thought it was a Malay wedding but then when I saw this, I knew I was wrong.

Double happiness character which proved that this was going to be a Chinese wedding.

The table setting. Look at the little box on the right of the chopsticks. Suren and I were betting on what it was. he said it was sweets but I said it was cake. I won.

A direct view of the character facing the entrance to the ballroom.

The 9-layered wedding cake. Beautiful.

The main stage.

VIP table for the newly-weds and parents

As the number of tables were less than on Friday's, it wasn't as tiring. However, the guests of the night were far more demanding. They would start making noise when their teas are not refilled immediately and some even complained that the tea wasn't hot enough.

Suren got the worst from a drunk guest. One drunk uncle asked him,

"Why are you so black?"

"Because you are white."

Suren, that was such a hilarious answer. If only he wasn't a guest, Suren would definitely get his sweet, sweet revenge.

I also saw Rains there. She said she was in charge of the event. Then, I noticed someone else who was also familiar. She was clad in a dark blue evening gown and I then recalled her name. Su Yin. Yes, that's her. My ex-schoolmate. Had a little chat with her and then I found out that it was her cousin's wedding. She was one of the bride's maids.

Compared to the Pre-graduates Night on Friday, last night's dinner had an extra course serving prawns. The courses seemed to be lighter compared to the first night I worked.

From these two nights, I have learnt that Chinese guests are really fussy, a fact I already knew but now confirmed really true.

Being a waitress at Syuen

I had my very first working experience at Syuen Hotel last night as a waitress for a banquet. I don't know about other of my friends but I did find it interesting albeit the heavy load of dishes I had to carry to the tables. Now I guess I need to do more of this work to strengthen my arms.

Through last night's experience, I finally figured out how the back area of Syuen looked like. The elevator was really antique. It's time for them to change to a new one as it looked as though it would fall apart anytime soon.

The moment we reached the second floor, which was where the banquet hall located, we were led by the manager into a series of hallways to the office where we kept our belongings and later on put on a maroon-coloured vest. I kind of like the vest.

Prior to the event (which was Malam Pragraduan UiTM Perak also known as Pre-graduates Night in English I think), we were briefed about the steward area as well as other details about the procedures to serve the courses. At that moment, I felt like there was so much things to remember but I eventually realized that the tasks when performed were not as complicated as explained in theory.

Now didn't that remind you of something? No wonder most students do not fare well when it comes to theory. They practise practicality.

The most tedious part of the job was actually sending the trays of dirty dishes and glasses to the steward area at the end of the event after the guests had left. My legs and arms were so sore from the long periods of standing and carrying the loads. During the service, I did something I felt embarrassing (didn't know whether the guests felt that way or not) about. When I was carrying the fish dish to the table, I spilled a little of the gravy on the table cloth before I managed to put the plate onto the centre of the table. Glitch happens.

But I enjoyed myself somehow. I felt I actually accomplished something by working hard.

A few pictures before the event started. We were so bored waiting for the arrival of guests so we snapped pictures of ourselves.

Ju Dee wanted to pretend that she was holding our faces but failed.

Three of us. Four if I count the photographer. =)

Patricia and I

I will be working for another function tomorrow/later today. I wonder what function will it be this time

P/S: Dearest uncle, you do not have to worry that I will regret what I have ventured into because I love the job even if it means hard work. Thank you for being so concerned. I really appreciate that. I really do.

Any Anas out there?

I suddenly have this sense of urgency to post about something certain people of the world do to prevent from getting fat. Or what I would say, prevent from getting flesh.

Dearest Julie, if you ever do drop by at my humble site, have pleasure reading. I put these pictures below just for you to enjoy. They are your models so you mustn't criticize the way they look.

Picture 1: Beautiful girls in their own way but one of them ate all her own flesh (the one on the left, obviously).

Let's name the anorexic girl Ana, shall we? The other girl should be called Ann.

Ann leads a healthy lifestyle by eating a sufficient amount of food on time unlike poor Ana. She is deprived from food.

Oh, Julie! I can never imagine your life in Malaysia. I am sure you will book the next flight to go back to where you belong because you simply cannot resist food here. Having said that, I don't mean that we are people who eat non-stop till we are fat. EATING=FAT is a ridiculous equation. Okay, you would probably say that you eat but not as much as 'we fatsos' (as you would absent-mindedly call us) but I can assure you, eating a grain of corn per meal is not eating (this is merely an example and does not depict your real eating habit). Get it??

You must be anticipating to see what picture number 2 is.

Picture 2: Exposing beautifully-formed ribcage

This picture can haunt me in my sleep. Even the picture of Linda Blair being possessed in Exorcist does not look half as scary. Do you look like this, Julie?

If you do, then please do not reveal yourself to me. I still need my sweet dreams.

Picture 3: Modelling on the runway

Look at the face. Gorgeous. Look at the body. Gosh!!

Julie, are you a model too?

Picture 4: The finale

Julie chanting to self: I am fat. I am fat. Need to lose more weight. Oh, scratch that. I mean flesh.

I know what your horror movies are, Julie. Surely it's the Big Momma's House and also The Nutty Professor. To me, these two are the best movies ever made to taunt anorexics. =)

P/S: Julie is a Britsh who speaks perfect English as well as other languages like German, French and so on. Such a perfect girl yet she is allergic to Ju Dee. I mean, how harmful can a healthy girl be? She called me fat too. Oh, not to forget she even called me 'chicken'. I should count myself lucky that word does not start with a 'W'. To read more of the conversation I had had with her, please move on to Ju Dee's chatbox. Thank you.

House Bunny is funny!

I had been sitting in front of the screen for hours for the past few weeks and finally it's over. I've completed my assignments!

Now I just need to wait for my dad to buy the black ink and I can print them out.

Watched House Bunny today and I found the show really funny. Anna Faris is a dumb blonde (no offence to her fans, yeah)!!

A snapshot of Anna Faris a.k.a. Shelley from the movie.

No one would wear her lingerie everywhere except for the House Bunny!

Picture: She was looking for a new home after being kicked out from the Playboy Mansion.

P/S: Looking forward to finish my very much delayed cross-stitch project.
