Weekend in KL

This was how I spent my weekend. We have a one-night complimentary stay (for some reason), one room of each hotel; Seri Pacific Hotel and The Legend Hotel.

Seri Pacific Hotel

Dad and bro had decided to stay here so my sis and I stayed in the hotel across the road (The Legend Hotel).

Front view

Look how tall it is. There are 30 floors in total.

The following pictures are the interior of the room. No doubt, it is really cozy. I love the wooden flooring. It's the first hotel that I have been to that has a wooden flooring rather than the normal carpeted ones.

The sink of the bathroom is divided by a glass panelling.

Comfy bed

Bro's favourite location of the room

Plasma TV for watching Disney and other programmes

Sis getting comfortable on the sofa

In the bubble lift.

My sis and I went down from the 25th floor to the ground floor and then back up to the 30th floor before going down to the ground floor and out we went back to the hotel on Saturday night. It's really fun!

This is the hidden minibar behind the study table

Bathtub and water closet

Lights from nowhere?

The Legend Hotel

The room is really legendary. We got the room number 2009. As we walked along the rooms on the 20th floor, it's as if we were travelling through a time machine.

Welcome to Year 2009!

One for you, one for me

Desktop in the room! Once shut down, it cannot be turned on again. Sigh.

Better sofa than Seri Pacific's

Let's fast forward to the next day. We pre-celebrated dad's birthday at Nando's (not again, I hear some of you say but I am really beginning to love that place!)

Bro's set (I was too embarrassed to show my food picture coz it was halfway through consumption. Forgot to snap before tucking in)

Dad said it's okay to 'invest' in Starbucks once in a while. From left: Caramel + Cream Frappucino, Chocolate

Another shot of my drink

Throughout the weekend, I had excellent appetite and craved for food most of the time. The buffet at Legend was not as good as the last time but at least there were delicious dishes like the Beef Rendang and the Fish Curry to shut me up from complaining. =)

Exam is in 9 days. Still unprepared. When the time comes, I will be. Hopefully.

And here's a random picture of me snapped at the Hot Market at The Mall (next to Legend Hotel)

This is how specs can change the way you look.

Cupcake Model 2009

This week has been an interesting one. Miss came up with the idea to have a Cupcake Model competition and the winner is selected based on the number of votes that is received from the students as well as the staffs. Here are the candidates:

(all photos are credited to Miss Nurainie)

Contestant No. 1: Pek Wan

Contestant No. 2: Soong Seng

Contestant No. 3: Kang Wei

The winner would get a cash prize of RM50. Hey, that's a lot of money to get just to stand and say cheese in front of the camera!

Voters don't drop from the sky so intensive marketing is essential to get votes. Look at the faces of the 'judges' below. It's only RM1 per vote to determine your winner!

Going from class to class, floor by floor to gain support from everyone. The response was good.

So what do the voters get? Nobody will vote if there's no benefit so there were four lucky draws to be given out (2 from the Vote-In Box and another 2 from the Vote-Out Box). The more the voters vote, the higher their chance is to win a cash prize of RM20! Just imagine if you only vote once and get called out for the lucky draw, you would gain RM19 for doing nothing! There is no such thing as free money but our four lucky draw winners can say otherwise!

Joyce Phang

Jacky Chan

Another two lucky dudes were Haresh and Choke (a student from the Hotel Programme)

The most interesting part next was the crowning of Cupcake Model 2009.

And the winner is...

Pek Wan!!!!!!!!!!!!! *throws confetti in the air*

Miss Cupcake 2009

Congratulations! You have won yourself RM50...

... I mean, 50 RM1s. Now she's a Money Model!

The group picture of the contestants. We are all CHAMPIONS, yeah!

Surreality

Another semester is coming to its end and finals is drawing near. I haven't even read a page of my notes. It's still so surreal that the term is ending and I am using the excuse of me still being in shock and could not start revising anytime soon. Procrastination has been a close relative of mine. It is here to stay and I can never get over it. It's sad, I know.

Time to get my not so beauty sleep. Good night.

Broken toenail

The thunderstorm yesterday morning had caused Crystle to have an accident. She bled. At first we had no idea where the blood came from and we checked everywhere but could not find any wounded area. Not until just now, when I was rechecking for the wound that I found the source of all the blood stains on tiles.

It was her broken toenail. The nail is nowhere to be found and the quick is now exposed and looking so vulnerable. I have washed and dripped some antiseptic medicine onto the wounded part but now she is treating me like an enemy, running and hiding away from my sight. I came across this article when I was browsing for first aid to broken dog toenails and it's pretty useful.

She is now licking her wounded paw and I know it must be painful. If I have the car, I would send her to the vet right now.

UPDATE:

Had sent Crystle to the vet and she has to take some medications. Get well soon, honey.

Babes from high school

The friends that you make in high school are the very people you will always remember even though you have gone to college and have met a new set of friends. Some of them are back in town and we met up.

It's never boring to talk about our school life although the topic is repeated year after year since we graduated from high school.

Some photos snapped to freeze our good times. Courtesy of Eza.

Me and Stefanie

A little bit blurry as this was snapped by one of the waiters in Black Canyon. Anyway, thanks Mr. Waiter!

Everyone who has seen these pictures thought that I work at Jusco. One even thought that I had become the manager of Jusco. Haha, very funny, Shatirah! If it is so, I will choose to drop out from college right now.

Nando's Peri-peri Chicken

I was browsing through my phone photos to see which ones I can delete (disadvantage of a phone without a memory card) and then realized that I planned to blogged about the following pictures which I found (snapped during my KL trip on the 14th June) but forgot about it when I came back to Ipoh.

Food from Nando's (first time dining there)

Peri-peri Chicken, Meditteranean Rice and Country Style fries

Two out of four type of sauces. Tasted sourish.

It's July and exam is in less than three weeks. I don't know whether to feel excited of nervous.

Transformers 2 is worth watching!

Things do not always work the way we want them to be. Sometimes, the opposite of what we hoped for becomes the reality instead. No matter how things turn out, I feel that the consequence would be something that is as a valuable as a lesson for us to ponder on.

Bro, you might not be reading this but I just want to let you know that what happened today happened for a reason. There's a significance to it that God's trying to show you. Look on the brighter side, you just experienced something new today.

***
I wasn't anticipating Transformers 2 that much since I haven't even watched the first part. Sometimes, you will need to watch the second part to know if the first part is good or not. Now I am going to watch the first part to see what I have missed. I had a great time of lunch and movie with my fellow college mates and we should do that more often (when H1N1 is no longer an issue). Oh and thanks so much for the ride home, Nick. =)
Bumblebee is so, so adorable!! Especially the part when he cried when Sam was leaving for college/university (see how short-term memory greatly affects me?).

R.I.P.s

Most of the people are paying tribute to Michael Jackson for all that he had done. What is the use of a tribute if these were the same people that ridiculed him during his lifetime? I quote from Khairul, "It's human nature." Yeah, it's human nature to be hypocrites. The world is so full of them. Maybe I am one without realizing it myself. Okay, I shall stop condemning others since nobody is perfect.

I am not a huge fan of MJ but his sudden demise is a shock to the world. Mr. Jackson, rest in peace.

Speaking of death, another terrapin of mine died. It's been 12 years so I guess it died of old age. May you rest in peace.

When too many pets had died, the tears no longer flow as I have learnt to accept that death is inevitable and crying would never bring them back.

Ice-cream!

It's been quite some time since I had eaten ice-cream and this was the first time I had one whole tub to myself. Though it's just 500 ml, it's a lot to eat for one person.

Yum yum!!

Empty!!

Have you ever tasted a chocolate durian flavoured ice-cream? Just eat some durian before the chocolate ice-cream and you will get a tinge of durian flavour in the chocolatey ice-cream. I have just tried this not-in-the-market flavour and it's not bad.=)

Starwalk 2009

Another 10km (a second one after last year's) walk made me feel so good. It's like I have achieved something by going for this long walk. Getting the cert is even a greater encouragement for me to complete it. Last year, there were about 8000 participants and I thought it would be about the same number of people who would be joining for this time. Who would have thought that the number will increase to 11k participants! Albeit knowing that there will be no cert given to non-competition participants, there were still so many enthusiastic walkers. (Fortunately they decided to give us the cert after all.)

Feeling satisfied for today. The route's changed but it's another good walk. I did not think about any other thing during the walk but all I have in mind is to reach the finishing line as soon as possible so that I could get my 100+. =)

Duyun, it's no wonder that I could not see you. There's only 0.009091% that I would bump into you. Let's go out 'yum cha' one of these days. Wanna hear some updates from you, girl. =)

Mix and Match

Currently feeling tired after three hours of laughing at people and talking and snapping crazy shots with the coconuts under the coconut tree, church service a few hours after that and then came back only when the sky was already dark. However tired I was, I felt that it's worth all the energy because I had fun. Tomorrow will be another day that is energy-consuming - Star Walk Day! Will be walking for another 10km just like last year. =)

Pastor Carlo from Sandakan preached today and the message was good. He showed us some slides about the story of Warren Buffett and it was very inspiring. It made me think a lot about what I want to do in future. =)

I realized that I am beginning to dull my readers if I continue to write like this. Wait till something interesting pops up then I shall write better, I hope.

There's just something so marvelous about Facebook that I cannot not share with all of you. Long lost friends are discovered after so many years of absence and the best thing was, they still remember who you are and even some of the tiny details that you have done which you possibly have long forgotten. A reunion is a must!! Come back to Ipoh - the place where we met; and share our lives after a decade plus not meeting one another.

Twelve years ago, when we were still midgets.

Brought back so much memories.

P/S: Sims 3 is addictive!

Post-assignment entry

It's the time of the semester again when the heavy burden of ten weeks is finally leaving my back. Time to get back to Breaking Dawn. I can't believe how long I had refrain myself from reading during the assignment season. Let me re-officiate this site by posting some pictures of the Tune Hotel in Kota Kinabalu.
Mom went there and snapped lots of pictures in the room.

Some budget hotel can be so cozy. =)

The thrill of blogging is coming back. The stress level is going down! I guess the trip to KL on Saturday has something to do with it.

=(

I could not sleep on time these few weeks. I never knew it would be this stressful.

Lord, help me to overcome this. I place all my trust in You. Amen.

I can only vent my frustration by slapping the other girls in the sorority game in facebook. Sigh.=(

Suffocation

One sentence: ASSIGNMENTS ARE DRIVING ME CRAZY AND I HAVE LOST MY INTEREST IN BLOGGING LATELY.

It's so easy to put all the blame on them during this season. That was partly the reason I haven't been updating. Well, the other reason was, I feel guilty typing here when I can use the typing time to search for more info but today, I am going to give myself a one-night break from all assignments! All work and no play makes Fiona a dull girl! I need to play a while. Hehe...

The other day I saw this parody of "Nobody" by Wonder Girls and it was really funny.

In conjunction with the Swine Flue period. Oh, so appropriate.

Two more weeks to go and I will have a big burden off my back. At least for a while. =)
